Healthy Fairs Workshop

These workshops take a One Health approach to safe and successful fairs and are co-hosted by the Minnesota Department of Health Zoonotic Diseases Unit and Environmental Health Division, and the Minnesota Board of Animal Health. Agenda topics include food vendor licensing, biosecurity, avian influenza, animal ID requirements, and best practices for reducing the risk of disease spread when the public interacts with livestock and poultry. There is time built in for attendees to “ask an expert” from each of the three agencies in addition to attendees reviewing their fair layouts and receiving personalized advice on their set-up and flow of people and animals. These workshops are intended for fair board members, barn managers, 4-H and FFA livestock project participants, and anyone else that has a hand in running county fairs.
